Some of My Cards most powerful features, like the GeoCard widget require access and use of a device's location services. Location services are not used by default and these features are considered optional. On devices running Android 6.0+, additional permissions are requested for location at run-time. Unfortunately, for all other users, this permission is required at time of install. If you don't use any of the location features, a devices location is never accessed or used.
